Project Cars 2 game release day!
/In stores today is Project Cars 2, a AAA video game I was hired to work on. It's available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

FORD SUPERCAR LITES RALLYCROSS CAR
For this game I was hired to record two rallycross race cars at Sebring Raceway in Florida. They were the OMSE Honda Civic and Ford Supercar Lites Redbull rallycross cars. I placed microphones in the engine compartment, above the driver, and next to the exhausts (referred as Onboard recordings). While riding and recording inside the FAST Honda Civic, the race car jointed me around. The violent ride actually killed the battery cable used to power my Sound Devices 788T-SSD 8 track and 744T 4 track field recorders. Because of that, I quickly got out and did some troubleshooting. After finding out about this broken $2 cable, I got on Skype and chatted with Vanesa Tate, Audio Director of Slightly Mad Studios with this dilemma. We agreed about using the backup rig (744T/Mixpre-D) and sacrificed 2 channels so that there would be enough battery life to complete the long sessions. This rig was suppose to be used to capture external passby sounds. Glad I brought along my Edirol R-44 backup backup field recorder. All and all the session went quite well.

Lesson learned? Always pack more battery cables along with backup gear and more backup gear.
After an hour of getting out of the Crazy race car, my hands were still shaking. It was Fantastic!!
Buy the game and Listen to the LOUD engines, turbos, anti-lag, and Crazy exhausts sounds!!
