The following is a portable field recording rig I made. An inexpensive Articulating Arm with some Adapters let's me connect my handheld recorder (using the XLR inputs) to my microphone windshield kit/blimp. By doing this, my one hand is free to perform foley etc tasks.

In case you're wondering, the handheld recorder is a Tascam DR-100mkii. Wind protection is Rycote Windshield Kit #10. Inside the winshield is Pearl MS 8 CL ms stereo microphone.

Some Articulating Arms are better others. When you tighten one, it may or may not be tight. You'll want one that stays on very tight.
